Bunn Riley Biography

Bunn Riley is a Surinamese professional bass player, music director and producer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

His professional musical journey began at an early age, touring internationally with his father’s band, The Dutch Rhythm Steel and Showband. Since then, Bunn Riley has continued to perform worldwide, both with his own backing band Redemption and as a freelance bass player for internationally acclaimed artists and bands, including The Original Wailers (Junior Marvin), Marcia Griffiths (The Queen of Reggae), Ky-Mani Marley, The Mighty Diamonds, Culture, Kiduss I, Eek-A-Mouse, Mr. Vegas, Konshens, Brinsley Forde (Aswad), Alison Hinds, Tanya Stephens, Chezidek, Gyptian, Bitty McLean, Wayne Wonder, Derrick Morgan, Olatunji, The No-Maddz, Queen Omega, Meta and the Cornerstones, and many more.

Known for his signature bass style — steady, powerful, and deeply rooted in groove — Bunn Riley has built a strong reputation within the international music scene. In 2016, Otentic Guitars designed and crafted the 5-string Otentic Guitars Jazz Bass – Bunn Riley Signature Model, built according to his personal specifications.

Bunn Riley’s musical versatility spans multiple genres, including Reggae, Ska, Rocksteady, Soca, Kaseko, Calypso, R&B, and Jazz, allowing him to seamlessly adapt to diverse musical settings and collaborations.

In addition to live performance, Bunn Riley is an experienced producer and recording artist, working from his professional home recording studio. Equipped with modern technology and industry-standard tools, the studio serves as a dedicated creative space for recording, producing, and delivering professional audio productions, including albums and singles. As a producer, he has collaborated with artists such as Taj Weekes, Papa Touwtjie, Myal Soul (members of The No-Maddz), and many others.

In 2006, Bunn Riley launched his own independent record label, Jahmanti Records, enabling greater creative control, artistic independence, and ownership over his music and productions.
